The How To of Wedding Shows

January 24, 2017

Attending a wedding show is not only an exciting experience, but it can also prove to be quite overwhelming. Wedding shows allow newly engaged couples to see what’s trending in the wedding industry and see things they might have not even considered. When attending wedding trade shows, it is important to be aware of a few things so that the experience can become more enjoyable and productive.

Before the Event

  • Make a new e-mail that you can give to wedding vendors at the show. This way you can request for more information without having to worry about your personal privacy.

  • Pre-register for the show so that you can save time and money both.

  • Do some research on the wedding vendors in your area so you can be more familiarized about what to expect.

  • Having a game plan is super important when attending a wedding show. Make a list of all the wedding services you need and a budget so that you can easily narrow down the vendor that fits your requirements.

  • Have a light meal before attending the show because you would taste a lot of cake there and doing so on an empty stomach can give a sugar rush.

  • Don’t forget to bring your planner along! This way you can stay organized throughout the entire show and be prepared for anything.

  • Never go to a wedding show along! Bring your fiancé, friend, mom, bridesmaid or anyone else you can think of. It’s always nice to have a second opinion.

  • Bring swatches and color samples of whatever you have decided so far. This will make coordinating accessories much easier for you and the vendors.

  • You’ll have to stay at the wedding show for at least 3-5 hours, so wear some comfy shoes. It’s mandatory!

During the Show

  • Don’t get caught up in the ‘excitement’ sell. A wedding show is basically a place to meet all wedding vendors at one place to discuss things in detail at a later date. There is no need for you to feel pressured for signing a contract at that exact moment.

  • Immediately ask the vendor if they are going to be available on the date you want them to be. If the answer is no, then move on.

  • Planning a wedding is not easy and it requires you to be flexible. If you had your heart set on something and it doesn’t work out, be open to other options.

Remember to have fun at the wedding show and don’t let everything overwhelm you!
